When tested in accordance with ASTM C 1279, all tempered glass shall not have a surface compression of less than 69MPa.
Due to nickel sulphide (NiS) impurities in float glass, we recommend all tempered glass undergo heat soaking to reduce risks associated with spontaneous failure. Tempered glass with NiS impurities will fail in the heat soak ovens instead of post installation.
